About

Claire McIntyre, L.M.F.T. is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been practicing since 2000. She received a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Connecticut State University. In addition, she successfully completed SCSU’s 2-year Gestalt Therapy training program.  She has experience in treating individuals, couples, and families, as well as parent education services.  One of Claire’s focus of treatment is working with adolescents and their families. “My favorite part of working with this age group is their willingness to be honest and tell it like it is. They want to figure out who they are and where they are going. I believe that they are searching for the answers to make their lives better.  The work I do is based on the belief that with a little guidance, young people have the wisdom to find their way.”

Claire has extensive experience in treating couples. “The greatest gift parents can give their children is a healthy marriage. I assist couples in working through a variety of obstacles so they can have the relationship they want.”

Claire believes that the therapeutic relationship is critical to successful treatment.  She sees herself as a change agent and feels that the most rewarding part of her job is watching people change and grow.
