Family therapy seeks to reduce distress and conflict by improving the interactions among family members. Through this type of therapy we work to:
-
Examine/improve your family's ability to solve problems and express thoughts and feelings in a productive manner
-
Reduce family conflict by exploring family roles, rules and behavior patterns (to identify issues and ways to work through these issues)
-
Identify your family's strengths and weaknesses
-
Foster cohesion and communication among family members
-
Build empathy and understanding
Common issues include life changes and stages, substance issues/addiction and anger.
